Default How to upload photos

Images take up a lot of space and bandwidth. To limit the size and bandwidth of the forum it would be better to host your pictures elsewhere on the internet instead of uploading your photos as attachment on this forum.

I upload my pictures to Imageshack: http://www.imageshack.us
There are more sites who host our photos for free like Photobucket, Picassa, Flickr etc. But I like Imageshack, no downtimes, no popups and easy to use.

Here is a tutorial on how to put your photo's on Imageshack and place them in your posting.

Please keep in mind that photos straight out of your camera are to big to upload most of the time. You need to resize them before uploading.

This is the start page. Look for your photo file on your computer, click resize if necessary and hit the "host it!" button

Copy the Direct link code

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Next go to the editor to write you post and click on this button

----------------------------------------------------------------------

In the popup screen, delete everything and then paste your copied code in the box and voila.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

You can look at the code by pressing this button and this is what you see in the code view:

Sometimes Imageshack changes the layout, but the working stays the same. The screenshots I used are from my Dutch forum and when I have some time left someday I will change the screenshots and take them over here.

Guidelines for uploading photos from Flickr, compliments of Sarah.

Go to the photo page on Flickr, and click the "All Sizes" icon. Below the photo, it gives you two options - one is the HTML code which doesn't work on here, the other is the image's URL. Copy the URL, click the "Insert Image" icon on here, paste the URL.

Flickr has a rule that you're not supposed to post photos on other sites without linking back. Most people don't actually do this, and chances are nothing will happen if you don't - but I do follow the rule because I've been in "trouble" with Flickr before and it was a royal PITA. If you want to link back to Flickr, select the image code:

Then click the "Insert Link" icon and paste the photo page's URL there. It should look like this, without the spaces.

[ URL="http://www.thisisthephotopage.com"][ IMG]http://www.thisistheurl.com/photo.jpg[/IMG ][/URL ]
