Hello everyone,
I have been hanging around here for eons and have gained so much information from all your posts it seems rude to not say hello. The reason is i have no experience to share just a massive love of glass, beads, jewellery making. I have been a nurse since i was 16 over 30years ago. Have never had time for anything else with 3 young kids too. They now teenies and one has moved on and i have been fighting empty egg syndrome. Always loved glass though and collected Mdina, had a love of Josh Simpson. Started jewellery making with glass beads and went to a show with Tuffnell Glass there and bought the kit. Tried to set up in the kitchen having bought the books of Cindy Jenkins etc and followed Youtube videos. It is a torch with 2 gases and my oh has made sure there are the flashback arresters etc and it is properly done. But the first time we set it off it went with a hell of a pop and i nearly fell off my chair. I made about 6 beads that i 1) cant get off the mandrel and 2) have turned from the lovely opaque yellow to a marbled effect that i couldnt repeat if i tried. So I am going for a full day tuition with Tillerman Beads a week this weekend and i am waiting for that now its harder than it looks. I apologise if i am not supposed to make such a long post. Just sooooo excited, cant wait. Thanks,MM xxx
