Default What are shards?

I see people posting beautiful beads made with shards. Are they large frit or something else?

Shards are blown bubbles of glass then broken into what are called shards, You can buy them or make them yourself after reading a tutorial or taking a class and watching someone do it.

This lady that torches with me sometimes says I am making my shards to thick.. She said I can't just put a cold rod into hot flame.. Why not?
